Ebenezer Outreach: Restoring Hope in Our Community

Members of the Ebenezer fellowship
Since 2018, ACK St. Paul’s South C church has run an outreach program targeting the disadvantaged in our community. What started as a donation drive has morphed into a regular church service, meeting twice weekly, complete with a structured order of service.
The service, dubbed Ebenezer, takes place on Thursday and Sunday afternoons and provides a space for fellowship, worship, and the distribution of donations. It is run by the clergy with the support of well-wishers and has grown to a membership of about one hundred people.
Through this initiative, lives have been transformed, souls have been saved, and hope has been renewed for many.
We sat down with one of the beneficiaries, Nancy Mulinya Lucheli, to share their story.
Q: Tell us about yourself, and your life before coming to this church
Nancy: My name is Nancy Mulinya Lucheli, a resident of Nairobi West. My life was not always rosy. I have faced difficulties, homelessness, poverty, and a total lack of basic needs such as food and clothes.
Q: How did you first come to ACK St.Paul’s South C church?
Nancy: I was brought here by a friend who had benefited before me. She invited me to a service that changed my life forever.
Q: What was your experience when you first attended the Ebenezer service?
Nancy: I loved it because for the first time in a long time, I felt a sense of belonging. The members were genuinely affectionate and warmly welcomed me with open arms. The prayers and worship gave me instant hope.
Q: In what ways has the church supported you and your family?
Nancy: I came here in 2019, and my life has been transformed. I used to struggle to raise rent, I have been evicted enough times, and even slept in the streets. Food was not always forthcoming. Since coming here, the church has helped me secure employment, I am stable, and I can afford to pay rent. I have a constant food supply that I get from the church, and I even get clothes happily donated by well-wishers.
Q: How has your life changed since becoming part of the Ebenezer fellowship?
Nancy: My prayer life has been greatly impacted. I feel closer to God, and the program has borne fruit. I am a changed person. I read my Bible that the church graciously gave me, and I am happy to belong here.
Q: What message would you like to share with members of the church and those who support the outreach program?
Nancy: I am very grateful to everyone who supports this ministry. Your kindness has changed my life. What you give may seem small, but it makes a big difference to families like mine. May God bless you for your generosity and compassion.
Q: What does church mean to you personally?
Nancy: Church is my safe space. I get to be myself, and I am happy that God is in my life.
